Composition:
Levozetrin Film Coated Tablets: Each film coated tablet contains 5 mg levocetirizine dihydrochloride.
Levozetrin Syrup: Each 5 ml of syrup contains 2.5 mg levocetirizine dihydrochloride.
Mechanism of action:
Levocetirizine, the (R) enantiomer of cetirizine, is a potent and selective antagonist of peripheral H1 receptors.
Indications
It is indicated for symptomatic treatment of allergic rhinitis (including persistent allergic rhinitis) and urticaria in adults and children aged 6 months and above (for syrup) and 6 years and above (for tablets).
Dosage and administration:
Adults and adolescents 12 years and above: The daily recommended dose is 5 mg (10 ml of syrup) or (1 tablet).
Elderly: Adjustment of the dose is recommended in elderly patients with moderate to severe renal impairment.
Patients with renal impairment: The dosing intervals must be individualized according to renal function
Children aged 6 to 12 years: The daily recommended dose is 5 mg (10 ml of syrup) or (1 tablet).
Children aged 2 to 6 years: The daily recommended dose is 2.5 ml of syrup twice daily, the tablet is not recommended.
Children less than 2 years: Even if some clinical data are available in children aged 6 months to 12 years these data are not sufficient to support the administration of levocetirizine to infants and toddlers aged less than 2 years.
