COMPOSITION :
Each tablet contains 10 mg Hydrocortisone.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES:
HYDROCORT is a physiological hormone. It has predominant glucocorticoide action and mineralocorticoide action (but less than aldosterone).
INDICATIONS AND USE :
HYDROCORT is used in the treatment of the following states:
– Primary or secondary adrenocortical insufficiency
– Psoriatic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, acute gouty arthritis and synovitis of osteoarthritis.
– Systemic lupus erythematosus, acute rheumatic carditis.
– Exfoliative dermatitis, severe psoriasis, and severe seborrheic dermatitis.
– Seasonal or perennial allergic rhinitis, bronchial asthma, contact dermatitis, atopic dermatitis and drug hypersensitivity reactions.
– Allergic conjunctivitis, keratitis, herpes zoster opthalmicus, iritis and iridocyclitis, chorioretinitis and optic neuritis.
– Symptomatic sarcoidosis and aspiration pneumonitis.
– Idiopathic thrombocytopenia purpura and acquired hemolytic anemia.
– Acute leukemia of children.
– Nephrotic syndrome.
– Ulcerative colitis and regional enteritis.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION :
Dosage requirements are variable and must be individualized on the basis of the disease and response of the patient.
Adult: 2 – 6 Tablets per day
Children: ¼ – 1 mg per Kg/day
