Composition:
Coteptal 5 / 1.25: Each film coated tablet contains 3.395 mg perindopril equivalent to 5 mg perindopril arginine, 1.25 mg indapamide.
Coteptal 10 / 2.5: Each film coated tablet contains 6.79 mg perindopril equivalent to 10 mg perindopril arginine, 2.5 mg indapamid.
Mechanism of action:
This product is a combination of perindopril arginine salt, an angiotensin converting inhibitor, and Indapamide, a chlorosulfamoyl diuretic.
Perindopril acts through its active metabolite, Perindoprilat.
Perindopril reduces the work of the heart.
Indapamide inhibits the reabsorption of sodium in the cortical dilution segment. It increases the urinary excretion of sodium and chlorides and, to a lesser extent, the excretion of potassium and magnesium, thereby increasing urine output and having an antihypertensive action.
Indications:
Treatment of essential hypertension in adults, this product tablet is indicated in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled on perindopril alone.
Dosage and Administration:
One 5mg/1.25mg film-coated tablet per day as a single dose, preferably to be taken in the morning, and before a meal.
Elderly:
Treatment should be initiated after considering blood pressure response and renal function.
Renal impairment:
In severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance below 30 ml/min), treatment is contra-indicated.
In patients with moderate renal impairment (creatinine clearance 30 – 60 ml/min), it is recommended to start treatment with the adequate dosage of the free combination.
Hepatic impairment:
In severe hepatic impairment, treatment is contra-indicated.
In patients with moderate hepatic impairment, no dose modification is required.
Packaging:
Coteptal 5 / 1.25: Pack of 30 film coated tablets.
